We aim to please...

Many children find disability an embarrassing and uncomfortable topic as most have had no experience or exposure, using horse riding as an activity we can integrate disabled and non-disabled people in a positive environment.

We hope to enlighten young people of the difficult lifestyles some disabled people encounter and to introduce a personal element therefore dispelling the prejudices associated with the word 'disabled'.

We would like to develop our links with mainstream education schools, offering visits and workshops. The 'Disability Awareness Through Animals' project is a 'two-pronged fork':

  • We want to give children the opportunity to get close up to horse, learn about their environment and care;

  • Using the centre and the horses we want to raise disability awareness to young people, to encourage volunteering and promote care in the community - using education to conquer prejudice.
